Custom Crystal Dice
Translucent dice cut from real quartz — clear quartz, amethyst and rose quartz — for D&D, tabletop RPGs and divination. Cut, faceted, polished, engraved and packed in our own Dongguan factory.
In short: crystal dice are the see-through part of our stone range. MOQ is 10 sets, lead time 3–6 weeks, and because the stone is natural you pick a stone rather than a colour. Shipping is EXW, FOB or CIF worldwide.
Which stones count as crystal dice?
The three we cut are all quartz. Everything else in our range — obsidian, tiger eye, lapis lazuli, turquoise, green aventurine, agate — is opaque, and lives on the gemstone dice page.
What changes when light passes through the die
Translucent stone is a different job from opaque stone, on our side and on yours. Four things are worth knowing before you spec a set.
Nothing inside the stone can be hidden
Light travels through a crystal die, so every internal veil, fracture line and mineral inclusion is visible from every angle. On an opaque stone a small flaw sits under the surface and never shows. On clear quartz it is part of the finished piece. We grade crystal blanks harder than opaque ones for that reason, and yield per block is lower.
Engraving reads by contrast, not by shadow
On opaque stone an engraved numeral is legible because the cut catches a shadow. On translucent stone there is no shadow to catch, so the ink does the work. We fill crystal dice with gold, silver, black or a colour of your choosing, and we will tell you honestly which of your numerals are too fine to stay legible once filled.
Two sets of the same stone will not match
Colour in natural crystal is banded and uneven — a single amethyst die often runs from pale lilac to deep violet across one face. That variation is the product, not a defect. If your buyer expects twelve identical sets, crystal is the wrong material and we will say so before you order.
Quartz is hard, but it is still brittle
The quartz family sits around 7 on the Mohs scale, so it holds a crisp faceted edge and resists scratching far better than resin. It is still a crystal, though: a corner drop onto a hard table can chip it. We recommend selling crystal dice with a tray or a soft rolling surface, and we pack every set to survive the freight leg.
Crystal dice questions we get asked
What is the difference between crystal dice and gemstone dice?
Crystal dice are the translucent, quartz-family subset of gemstone dice — clear quartz, amethyst and rose quartz. Gemstone dice is the wider term and also covers opaque stones such as obsidian, tiger eye, lapis lazuli and turquoise. Both are cut from real stone; the difference is whether light passes through the finished die.
Can I choose the colour of my crystal dice?
Not in the way you can with resin. With natural crystal the colour is the material, so you choose a stone rather than a colour. Tell us the shade you are after and we will match you to the closest stone we cut, and send photographs of the actual blanks before production starts.
What is the minimum order for custom crystal dice?
Ten sets, across our whole stone range. You can also order a single fully custom sample first to evaluate the stone, the engraving and the packaging; the sample fee is credited against your first bulk order.
Are crystal dice balanced enough for serious play?
They are cut to flat faces and consistent angles, and every set is inspected for chips and face geometry before packing. Natural stone has small internal density variation that a moulded resin die does not, so for a sanctioned tournament a precision resin or metal die is the safer choice. For home tables, campaigns and collectors, crystal dice roll fine.
Do you engrave logos and custom symbols on crystal dice?
Yes. We laser or CNC engrave numerals, runes, logos and custom symbols, then fill them with your chosen ink colour. Send vector artwork and a face layout. On translucent stone we will flag any stroke too fine to stay readable after filling, and suggest a heavier weight.
How do you ship, and who pays the import duty?
We ship worldwide EXW, FOB or CIF from Dongguan, China. We do not offer DDP, so import duties and clearance in the destination country are the buyer’s responsibility. We will give you HS codes and full documentation for your broker.
